Certified Nurse Midwife
Joyce has spent the majority of her life dedicated to serving others through the healing arts. Following in the footsteps of her mother, she became a nurse in 1984 and was a powerful presence of comfort to people during difficult times of illness. As she received her Master’s degree in Nursing and was recognized with leadership roles in her field, she had the unique experience of being able to witness both the capabilities and limitations of the current medical system. This was echoed in her own life as she experienced two Cesarean sections followed by a VBAC in a large teaching hospital before she had the privilege of delivering her fourth child at the family farm in the same room her mother and aunt were born in. These experiences blossomed into a desire to support and nurture other women safely through the natural lifecycle of the childbearing year without unnecessary interventions.
Joyce became a midwife in 2000 and has attended home, birth center, and hospital births. She offers a voice of strength and wisdom to women as they embark on the beautiful journey of motherhood, whether for the first or tenth time. Joyce brings a presence of confident nurturing to laboring mothers which encourages women to embrace the miracle of birth in a safe and supported environment.
Certified Professional Midwife
Robin has been offering a voice of compassion to laboring mothers since 1984, when she began attending home and birth center deliveries. She completed her training under three Certified Nurse Midwives and worked in a prominent birth center in Dallas from 1993-97 before opening her private practice (Birth Traditions) and joining Family Centered Maternity Care in 2001. Having had six out of hospital births herself, she has gently guided many through the childbearing year with understanding and empathy. Robin brings a presence of calm reassurance to the birth environment which endows women with the confidence to listen and respond to their innate understanding of the birth process.
Certified Nurse Midwife
We are excited to welcome Christina to our our team of midwives here at Family Centered Maternity Care. Christina earned her Master’s degree in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University. She has been a nurse since 2011 and has worked in labor and delivery of multiple DFW hospitals. While she is a certified registered nurse in inpatient obstetrics, her true passion lies in out-of-hospital birth; Christina knew she wanted to a be midwife since before she went to nursing school. Her goal as care provider is to uncover how each woman defines “a positive birthing experience” and then support and guide her in safely achieving it. She practices in a way that incorporates evidence, education and enthusiasm, while ensuring all of her clients feel empowered, valued and respected. Christina loves discussing choices with clients and believes in shared decision making to promote individualized wellness in birth, as well as across the lifespan. Christina was born and raised in Maryland but moved to Texas five years ago. She is married and considers herself blessed to have given birth twice in birthing centers – both waterbirths. She enjoys going to fun, family events across the metroplex and returning to the east coast to visit family and pick crabs!
When you birth with FCMC, the first and last person you interact with is Linda. She is an amazingly nurturing woman and we are honored to have her as part of our team. She has supported our midwives and filled in the many gaps since 2012. Linda has six children and had nearly every kind of birth experience there is, from cesarean to VBAC and even a home birth with her fourth child. The experience as a wife, mother and organizer that she brings to our office is wonderful. You will fall in love just like we have.
